Four Paws International support in Ukraine
The war in Ukraine has affected both humans and animals. Many homes, hospitals, streets, veterinary clinics, and animal shelters have been destroyed, and millions of people and hundreds of thousands of animals have been displaced, terrified, injured, and living on the streets. Four Paws International established a temporary veterinary care project to provide aid to pets and stray animals left behind in many cities around Ukraine.
The organization has been providing support in Ukraine for over ten years, but, since the war began Four Paws has:
Provided care to 30 rescued bears at their bear sanctuary.
Supported stray animal care teams.
Delivered 40 tons of food for wild animals in captivity.
Distributed 944 tons of humanitarian food for dogs and cats either living in shelters or on the streets, as well as the distribution of veterinary drugs and equipment where needed.
Treated over 1800 dogs and cats.
Provided 2,000 refugee pets with veterinary care.
Working to spay, neuter, and vaccinate 10,000 stray cats by the end of 2023.
